Valentine Willie Fine Art Annex Gallery Exhibition - June 2006
Glen Clarke, winner of last year's Australia's National Sculpture Prize, is currently the Asialink's Residence Artist hosted by VWFA. The artist will present a selection of his recent works at VWFA's Annex Gallery before returning to Australia for a solo exhibition at Despard Gallery, Tasmania. About the artist: Glen Clarke was born in Traralgon, Victoria, in 1954. He completed a Diploma of Art and Design at the School of Visual Arts, Monash University, in 1976 and a Master of Fine Art at the Tasmanian School of Art, Hobart, in 1991. He lectured in sculpture at the Tasmanian School of Art between 1989 and 1996,and was Associate Professor of Sculpture at the University of Hue, Vietnam,in 1998. Clarke has held ten solo exhibitions and his work has been selected for many group exhibitions, including the National Sculpture Prize and exhibition 2003, NGA, Canberra; the Second International Sculpture Symposium, Hue (1998); ARX3, Perth (1991); the Australian Sculpture Triennial, Melbourne (1981); and the Mildura Sculpture Triennial, Victoria (1975 and 1978). Clarke has received several awards and grants, including the City of Hobart Prize for Sculpture (1993) and Australia Council Development Grants in 2003 and 1997.
