Matangi String Quartet (concert)

One of the finest young ensembles from the Netherlands, the Matangi String Quartet, will be performing for one-night-only at KLPac. The repertoire for their performance includes compositions by Hadyn, Mozart and Beethovan. The “Matangis” perform extensively and have released two CDs and a hit single, Bats from Hell, which was hailed as a “contagious bridge between classic and pop” by Classical Affairs magazine. The quartet will also be conducting a master class.

Pretoria High School for Girls Choir & Pro Cantu Youth Choir (concert)
Presenter: KLPac (with the support of The Actors Studio Academy Young KL Singers and KL Children Choir)

Admission: By donation – min. of RM20 (adults) & RM10 (students, senior citizens and the disabled)
The acclaimed Pretoria High School for Girls (PHSG) Senior Choir and Pro Cantu Youth Choir will be performing Western and African music during their one-night-only performance at KLPac.
Both choirs regularly participate in choir competitions and eisteddfods. The PHSG choir has won the Pretoria Eisteddfod on several occasions and regularly achieves nothing less than an A++ while the Pro Cantu Youth Choir has won the Pretoria International Choir Competition and two gold medals at the 2nd Choir Olympics. In fact, the Pro Cantu Youth Choir will be representing South Africa at the 4th World Choir Games this year.
The Kuala Lumpur Children Choir and Tarcisian High School Choir (Ipoh) will also be making an appearance as guest performers.

Following the success of the first ever KL Sing Song last year, this year's singer songwriter showcase will be kicked off at KLPac. It will feature no less than 12 talented, Malaysian singer songwriters armed with lots of original material. Besides the performance, there will also be a series of singer songwriter workshops – “Singing with Style” by Shelley Leong, “Lyrics & Creativity” by Pak Pandir, “Make it Live” by Shannon Shah and “The Indie Path” by Pete Teo. Troubadours / Open Doors is monthly series of live performances and short-film screenings jointly organised by KLPac and Troubadours Enterprise. The line up for June includes local band, The Sofa Sessions, which comprises Ariff Akhir, Shahril Eashak and Shahriz A E. Also performing is multi-disciplinary artist, Weijun and Silentscenery, a one piece acoustic project. Besides that, a short-film on KL Sing Song 2005 will also be screened.

In conjunction with ISME 2006, the fringe festival at KLPac will see nine local and international ensembles showcasing their musical talents.
Malaysia's very own Jeep Latino Jazz from Universiti Sains Malaysia as well as students from the International College of Music will perform alongside other international groups such as the WA Dixieland Group, an orchestra from Australia. Other ensembles to watch out for include the Australian Voices (Australia), VSVS String Ensemble (Australia), Ballenta Academy (Sierra Leone), Harp Hamonia (Malaysia), Koto Performing Group (Japan) and Kitri Ensemble.
