Three Generations of Batik Painting
A Group Exhibition by Chuah Thean Teng & Sons & Grandsons
Siemens Malaysia proudly presents Three Generations of Batik Painting , a group exhibition by Datuk Chuah Thean Teng , his three sons – Chuah Siew Teng, Choy Siew Kek, Chuah Seow Keng and his grandsons Chuah Seong Hooi and Chuah Seong Leng. Datuk Chuah is also known as the Pioneer of Batik Painting and Malaysia ’s foremost artist in batik painting. His three sons and two grandsons are also artists who utilize the remarkable medium of batik as a medium of expression. The subject matter and themes for their artworks are often drawn from idyllic rural kampung life.
Art connoisseurs and experts from around the world have compared Datuk Chuah' s works with those of Matisse, Picasso and Gauguin. The apples did not fall too far from the tree, and Datuk Chuah' s talented family’s works have been displayed in international exhibitions, commissioned by multinational companies and featured in UNICEF greetings cards. This exhibition will be the first time the three generations of Chuah artists will be presenting their batik paintings together in the nation’s capital.
Siemens, in its local and global capacity is committed to p romoting the stimulation and growth of arts and culture – specifically forms which are unique to the country and the region. This exhibition is part of such initiatives.
