Tim Woods Entertainment in association with IMG Artists is proud to announce the Malaysia season of Sing-A-Long-A Sound Of Music, the internationally-acclaimed, fun and interactive sing-a-long phenomenon. Sing-A-Long-A Sound Of Music will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre from 17 – 22 October 2006, the first ever presentation of its kind in Asia.

Hailed by audiences worldwide as an unparalleled entertainment event, Sing-A-Long-A Sound Of Music features the screening of the most successful musical film of all time, with song lyric subtitles so everyone can sing along!

“The sing-a-long concept is unique in that it combines a wide variety of performance areas, including film, live entertainment, stand-up comedy and audience participation. Sing-A-Long-A Sound Of Music is an event, and not simply the re-run of an old movie. It is a great movie event where the audience members are actually the stars of the show,” said Tan Lae-Hoon, Vice-President & Director of IMG Artists Malaysia.

“At the start of the event, a host leads the audience members through vocal warm-ups, demonstrates the actions for the “magic moments” during the film, as well as the use of the complimentary fun pack. There is also a fancy dress competition which audience members help judge.”

“Then when the film is screened, audience members can get ready to burst into song, cheer the Von Trapp children, wave their sprigs of edelweiss, and hiss the Baroness – all in the spirit of fun and entertainment !”

The film, Sound of Music, premiered in 1965 and enjoyed record-breaking box office success, continuing to play in cinemas until December 1969. In 1966, the film received five Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Film Editing, Sound Design and Music Adaptation.

A large part of the film’s phenomenal success is due to the irresistible score by Rodgers and Hammerstein, as proven by the astounding success of the motion picture soundtrack. The original album reached Gold Record status a few months after release and remained on the best-selling charts for 233 weeks. Today it remains one of the most popular soundtracks of all time, with over 8,000,000 copies sold in North America alone.

Sing-A-Long-A Sound Of Music has played to sold-out shows across Britain, United States and Australia since it began in 1999. The show has toured more than 70 centres in the United Kingdom, playing to more than 200,000 people.
