After their successful run of ‘Womanly Voices’ & ’30 Days In September’ in 2004, Lillete Dubey’s Primetime Theatre is back with another amazing play all the way from Mumbai, India. This time it tells the tale of how young Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi became Mahatma Gandhi. It will be staged at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre sometime in August with a stellar cast and crew of 13 talented persons, which also include Lillete’s own two family members.

With a brilliant script written by Partap Sharma, translated on stage in the capable hands of Lillete Dubey, this show promises to be entertaining and heartwarming from the start to the end. It is without a doubt an event worthy of the busiest of social calendars.

Synopsis

“Sammy” is the incredible story of Mahatma Gandhi told by an ensemble of actors in a modern and exciting manner. Led by a lively debate between Mohan and the irrepressible Mahatma in him, the play highlights Gandhi’s relationships and how he changed everyone he touched. It traces the transformation of the young Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi from a naïve, tongue-tied lawyer into a shrewd politician and finally a Mahatma.
