It’s The 4th Annual BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2005
Nominations for the 4th Annual BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2005 were announced today at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, the official hotel of the awards, by a host of luminaries including past award recipients actor-singer Sean Ghazi, dancer January Low and recording artiste Shanon Shah.
Nominees were announced in multiple categories honouring excellence in dance, music and theatre during the 2005 performing arts season. An independent judging commission of 31 artistes, critics and academics appointed by the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards Committee selected the nominees in a record-breaking 38 competitive categories. The 4th Annual BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2005 is organised by Kakiseni.com and carries the name of the title sponsor BOH Cameronian. Eligible productions staged between 1st January 2005 and 31st December 2005 were considered for nominations, and the judging commission deliberated over a record total of 25 dance productions, 20 music concerts and 42 theatre plays.
The 4th Annual BOH Cameronian Arts Awards 2005 has added the following categories to the nominations: Best Actor In A Supporting Role, Best Theatre Production, Best Choreographer In A Mixed Bill, Best Choreographer In A Full Length Work, Best Artistic Direction In Dance, Best Dance Production, Best Music Production and Best Inter-Disciplinary Production (Special Mention).
Actor-playwright Jit Murad and singer Izlyn Ramli return for a second year as the hosts for the ceremony, which will be held at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur on Friday, 5th May 2006.
“We are looking forward to a great awards show this year,” states Jenny Daneels, co-founder of Kakiseni.com. “This has been a challenging season with many diverse productions. Each year we try to keep our ceremony fresh and lively, with participation by some of the performing arts world’s biggest personalities.”

In addition to honouring performing artistes and stage productions, the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards annually presents seven Special Awards, which include the BOH Cameronian Lifetime Achievement Award (past recipients were director Krishen Jit, dancer-choreographer Ramli Ibrahim and actor-producer Dato Faridah Merican), the Artseefartsee Cross- Cultural Champion Of The Arts Award, and the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur Most Promising Artiste Award (presented previously to actor Mark Teh, musician Shanon Shah and writer Jerome Kugan).
The BOH Cameronian Arts Awards are bestowed annually on performing arts professionals for distinguished achievement and is one of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry.
